Probabilistic Analysis of a Turbine Blade

Rama Gorla described heat transfer through gas turbine blades as computationally simulated by Finite Element Method and probabilistically evaluated to account for various uncertainties in the performance parameters.
Cumulative distribution functions and sensitivity factors were computed for thermal stresses. This analysis is important for material selection, to identify critical measurements and parameters, and to reduce safety factors while still maintaining adequate margins.
